Bearded dragons are friendly, hardy reptiles that make great pets for both beginners and experienced keepers. They are native to the arid and semi-arid regions of Australia and are known for their calm personalities and curious behavior.

• Origin: Australia
• Adult Size: Approximately 18–24 inches long
• Diet: Omnivorous
  • Juveniles need more insects, such as dubia roaches, crickets, and black soldier fly larvae.
  • Adults should eat mostly leafy greens and vegetables, with insects offered in moderation.
• Lifespan: Typically 8–12+ years with proper care

Tank Size

• Juvenile: A 40-gallon tank is a good starting size.
• Adult: A minimum of 4 ft x 2 ft x 2 ft enclosure is recommended, with larger being even better.
• Provide plenty of floor space for walking, basking, and exploring.

Recommended Temperatures

• Basking surface: 100–105°F for adults; juveniles may benefit from the higher end of this range.
• Warm side: Approximately 85–95°F
• Cool side: Approximately 75–85°F
• Night: Generally around 65–75°F
• Use digital thermometers and a temperature gun to monitor the enclosure accurately.

Care Tips

• Provide a strong UVB light appropriate for a bearded dragon and replace the bulb according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
• Offer fresh greens and appropriately sized insects on a regular feeding schedule.
• Provide clean, fresh water and maintain good enclosure hygiene.
• Use safe substrate and avoid loose substrates that can present an ingestion risk, particularly for young or unhealthy dragons.
• Include a basking area, hides, climbing surfaces, and other enrichment.
• Dust appropriate foods with calcium as recommended for proper bone health.
• Handle regularly and gently to help your dragon remain comfortable around people.
